Inisowen in Mixed Conditions

The drive to Inisowen, although a long one, isn't at all bad and the promise of some great sites and great landscapes makes it worth the journey.

It was disappointing that the weatehr turned nasty in the afternoon, but the morning was wonderful. I think I know where I might like to live one day. I certainly will add this area to my list of 'Possibles'.

A Very Holey Day Indeed

Bullaun stones, holy wells, holes between legs - all sorts of holes everywhere today.

The Glen of Aherlow is a magical area of the country and I will certainly be back here again. The Galty Mountains to the south and the serenity of the whole area make this a great place to spend a day. This was not to be a very megalithic day, with the vast majority of the places visited being Early Christian, but two Sheelas and some great big bullauns made up for that.

The Shannon Scramble

A whole group of monuments around the Killaloe and O'Briens Bride area on the Clare/Tipperary border was my target today, but once again the weather stopped me visiting a few tombs thatI'd had my eye on for a long time.

When the weather was kind to me the views were spectacular and the scenery a pleasure to drive through. I still have my eye on those tombs and I'll be back for them in the spring or summer.
